Which shape should you choose?
Pick according to what you want to do while wearing it. A sleeved blanket frees your hands, a poncho goes on and off in one second, a cape covers more but gets in the way of your arms.

Which size should you choose?
Most of our blanket sweaters come in one adult size, cut wide enough to reach the knees of someone around 5 ft 9. If you are over 6 ft, or if you want more length, take a giant or XXL model, which adds roughly 8 inches.
Blanket sweater or ordinary throw?
A blanket sweater is worn, an ordinary throw is laid down. If you stay in the same spot all evening, a regular throw does the job and costs less. If you get up often, to the kitchen or to work standing, the wearable version saves you from pulling it back up every time.

Can it be machine washed? Check the care instructions for the model you choose and follow its care label.
Is it actually warmer? Yes, warmer than a throw laid over you, because the fabric stays against the body instead of letting air in from the sides.
