What makes a blanket scarf different from an ordinary scarf?
Its width. A classic scarf is 10 to 14 inches wide and sits around the neck. A blanket scarf is over 24 inches, which lets you open it as a shawl across the shoulders or keep it folded as a thick scarf. One accessory, two uses.

Which pattern should you choose?
Tartan remains the most worn, and also the most noticeable. If you are unsure, a plain gray, black or off-white works with everything and dates far more slowly.

Common questions
Does a blanket scarf suit a man? Yes. Our cashmere model and the darker check patterns are made for it, and the wide cut is not gendered.
Can you wear it indoors? That is arguably its best use. Open across the shoulders, it replaces a cardigan without restricting your arms.
How do you care for it? Acrylic models go in the machine at 86°F. Wool and cashmere should be hand washed in cold water and dried flat so they keep their shape.
How do you tie a blanket scarf? The simplest way holds all day: fold it in half lengthwise, drape it around the neck, then pull the two loose ends through the loop. For the shawl version, leave it open and hold it closed with a belt or a brooch.
