How to wash a new blanket?
of reading - words
You just bought a new blanket and want to wash it before the first use, you've come to the right place. Washing a new wool or fabric blanket may seem complicated, but with the right steps, you can do it safely and easily.
Step 1: Check the colors of the new blanket
Before washing the new blanket, check whether the colors fade or not.
If you are unsure, you can perform a color test by gently rubbing a hidden corner of the blanket with a white cloth dampened with soapy water. If the colors bleed, wash the blanket separately.
We recommend our fleece blankets which allow you to keep the color well when washing.
Step 2: Prepare the washing machine
Make sure the washing machine is clean and empty. Set the cycle to “delicate” or “wool” and the water temperature to cold or warm.
Use a mild wool detergent or a product specially designed for delicate fabrics.
Step 3: Put the new blanket in the washing machine
Place the blanket in the washing machine, making sure it is not too tight and has enough room to move around. Do not add other clothes or items to the washing machine, as this can damage the blanket.
Step 4: Wash the blanket!
Run the wash cycle at a low temperature and let the washing machine do its job.
Avoid putting the blanket in the dryer as this can cause it to shrink or become damaged. Instead, we recommend air drying it by laying it flat on a clean, dry surface.
Also use a mild detergent while avoiding products that are too aggressive or contain bleach.
By following these simple steps, you can safely wash your wool blanket and keep it clean and soft for years to come. We hope you found these tips helpful and enjoy your new washed and soft blanket as if it were brand new.
